Education and Community Development

Education empowers children to grow mentally and socially. In order to encourage boys and girls to stay in school and give them the confidence and self-esteem needed to succeed, L.I.F.E. has developed three programs—a girls running club, a boys soccer team and a women’s vocational training center. L.I.F.E. also distributes school supplies to local schools, community organizations, and those involved in our programs.

Girls Run 2

Girls in our running program, GirlsRun2, are assisted with their school fees so they can stay in school. They meet every day for practice after school and participate in city-wide and nation-wide events on the weekends.

Women’s vocational center

Our women’s vocational center hosts three levels of sewing classes, eventually equipping women to open their own sewing business and have the skills to train others. Graduates from the program receive their own sewing machine and are able to begin to provide for their family in a flexible job. Other programs include jewelry making using paper beads, baking classes, and seminars on various women’s issues such as FGM, health, and self-worth.

Following this succes L.I.F.E opened up similar sewing classes in Arta to offer women new skills to provide for their families.

Soccer

For the past six years, L.I.F.E. has sponsored a boys community soccer club. Last year the team entered in the 3th devision competition and this year the coaches are starting up a soccer acadamy. The boys get 5 trainings a week, incorporating physical and technical training alongside life skills and character building. By fostering a well-rounded development program, the academy ensures that players are equipped with the necessary tools to excel both on and off the field, creating a positive impact on their overall growth and potential future career endeavors.
